Wagner, Richard,
born 10 Apr 1952 in Lowrin, lived in Temeswar; Diploma in German Literature,
journalist, lyric poet, author of prose.
Son of Nikolaus Wagner und Margarete, geb. Dreier. Wagner attended high school in
Großsanktnikolaus. Already at this time Richard Wagner began
publishing reports in the German-language press in Romania. He studied Germanistik at the University of
Timisoara (Temeswarer Universität); and several years of German in Hunedoara.
From 1979,
Richard Wagner lived in Timisoara; where he remained until the end of 1983
for the Banatberichter für die Kronstädter Wochenschrift "Karpatenrundschau
("Observations of the Carpathians"). Co-founder of the literary circle
who later became known as "action group Banat". 1981/82 Richard
Wagner led the Timisoara's literary circle "Adam-Müller Guttenbrunn.
Increasing awareness, involvement of the Romanian secret services were the
reason that Wagner and several other authors left the circle. The editors of
the Karpatenrundschau (Carpathian Rundschau) put the uncomfortable near the
termination of employees. In the autumn of 1985 Richard Wagner presented and
his then-wife
Herta Müller 'outbound request. In 1987, she arrived in Germany and
settled in West Berlin down. |
Richard Wagner has published numerous books in Romania and Germany - poems, short
stories, novels, documentaries, for which he won several awards.
In his work he takes a critical view of the political and social reality.
