The Three Brestowatz Villages

Research findings of the 3 Brestowatz villages by Jody McKim, 25 Aug 2011

The three Brestowatz villages were all part of Hungary in 1898; (1) the Brestowatz from Temes County was known as Aga, (2) the Brestowatz from Torontal County as Bresztovacz and (3) the Brestowatz from Bács-Bodrog County as Bacs-Brestovacz.
Note: In 1912 Torontal Varmagye/County became Temes Varmagye/County.

  • Szilvás / Szilvas (Other) I've not found a substantiating reference of this variant being associated with Brestowatz in Batschka. Note: there is a Szilvás in Swabian Turkey, Baranya County.
