In fact, it is the only thing that ever has." ~Margaret Mead

" . . . I have been able to identify hundreds of ancestors"

I was born in St. Louis, Missouri to first generation American parents. On my father’s side, both grandparents were born and lived in Banat villages – my grandfather in Marienfeld and my grandmother in Lenauheim – before they emigrated and settled in St. Louis in the early 1900s. I grew up in St. Louis, and have lived in Kansas City since 1989 when my wife and I married. We have one adult son and two Cardigan Welch Corgis. Before my retirement in 2014
I was a lawyer specializing in commercial litigation.

As a child I learned very little about my family’s roots, in part because my parents and grandparents made such an effort to become assimilated in American culture. As an adult I became curious about my grandparents’ ancestry and origins, but never made time for genealogical research until after my retirement. Since then, I have been able to identify hundreds of ancestors, including many who lived in Lorraine before migrating to the Banat. I would not have been able to accomplish this without the assistance and generosity of the DVHH community. I am very grateful to those individuals who provided so much help.
