"The interior of the German-Catholic
St. Bonifatius Church in Montreal/Canada. This church is
located at the corner of City Hall Street and Pine Avenue; it was built
in 1946 by predominantly Danube Swabians who had settled in Montreal
before WW2. Every Sunday the church
becomes a meeting place of
Danube-Swabian people, for the
German Mass between 9:00 and 11:00
o'clock." |

First
home of the German-speaking RC
parish in Montreal, namely the
“lower church” (church basement?) of
the St. Louis de France church. [Rudy Jobba 26 Jan 09] (N. Tullius note: the German word "Kapelle"
(not "Kapella"
or "Kappela")
simply means "chapel" in English.
They could not
call it a "church" as it was only
the lower floor of a church, so they
called it a "Kapelle." |
