All those people picked out for deportation meet at
Triebswetter railway station under military guard. The
photographer Hans Hehn took this picture whilst hiding in the
attic of his house. It is one of those rare photos which

and covered in thatch during the time of the deportation, and
which is still inhabited today (2001). | |
As a young girl, Hedwig Gilde used to run after these prickly
balls of thistles which the wind would blow across the fields
during autumn. This once much sought-after source of heating
material is only found seldom these days. | |
