Feger & Seifert
Families of Mercydorf

Researcher: Albert Gellert

The last of the Fegers, was Oscar who died around 1930. He must have an illegitimate son, also Oscar. The mother of this son was Eva Seifert or similar. I do not know anything about her or Oscar. Also I am not sure of the names spelling.

The older Oscar was the last "landlord" in Mercydorf. His father was the son of a coppersmith in Ujvidek now Novi Sad. In 1874, he was a grain merchant and earned enough to buy the real estate (I'm not sure if this is the right term) of Mercydorf and Zsadany (this is the neighbor village Cornesti now).  After his death it was inherited by his 4 children and his widow. His son Oscar was the youngest and remained in Mercydorf.  In 1921, Banat became part of Romania, the new state has nationalized big parts of the property.
