The first recorded generation known:

The first record of a Senetra can be found in the church archives of Homolicz, a small town close to Pancsova (Pancevo) in the Vojvodina region of Serbia.

Joseph Senetra was born about 1730 and came as a soldier from Ratibor in Prussia- Silesia (Razibórz at the Oder river in the southern region of Poland) to Homolicz. There he married the widow Catharina Steskal on Feb 9, 1777 who had come from the town of Remich at the river Mosel (Luxembourg). They had three children: Ambrosina, Stephan and Barbara.  Joseph died on June 17, 1783; the fate of his widow is unknown.

The second recorded generation – the children of Joseph Senetra and Catherina Steskal

1. Ambrosina     * Feb 21, 1778                +?

2. Stephan        * Nov 26, 1779, + Oct 20, 1828

3. Barbara         * Dec 9, 1781               +?

Nothing is known about Ambrosina and Barbara. It is possible that they married and moved to another village.

Stephan eventually moved from Homolicz to Mercydorf and married Elisabetha

Grosz on May 13, 1800. Elisabetha was born in Mercydorf Nov 1, 1781. Five children originated from this marriage but only Tadeus and Elisabetha reached adulthood. Elisabetha Grosz died on Sep 11, 1810 and Stephan married Terézia Paul on Oct 2, 1810. They had three children: Elisabetha, Johann and Anna Maria.

Stephan Senetra died Oct 20, 1828, his second wife Terézia Paul on Nov 12, 1839.

Only two children survived Stephan: from his first marriage Tadeus and from his second Johann. The fate of his fifth child from his first marriage, Elisabetha, could not be determined from the church records in Mercydorf. It is possible that she married and moved to another village.
