The Catholic Church

Based upon Maria Theresias edict from 1764, Knoll, a member of the commission for colonization, brings 92 families to Bruckenau, who came from Lorraine and Alsace, "Leibeigene" of the bishop of Trier. In that time they founded the Roman-Catholic parish, lead by the priest Iosif Esek, and built in 1776 the Roman-Catholic Church "Saint Trinity," that was renovated in 1922.

That's what the homepage of the Mayor of Bruckenau said (is written on the mayors homepage)  in January 2007. But in reality things are different, even sad.  The Roman Catholic Church of Pischia (Bruckenau) is 210 years old,  doesn't look like a "house of God" anymore, ever since the cross disappeared from her tower.

And this in not the only sin on the community's memory:  the front gables (Giebel) of the original old Swabian houses, (built at the end of 19th and beginning of 20th century), had the German family names inscribed on them, signifying who built them and in what year; the "New Banaters" have spoiled these inscriptions.

And the irony of it is, the mayors name is Ion ..Sas - (Sas means "saxon" and is the name for the German in Tansilvania, Sachsen)
