Pecht Family of Bruckenau
of
Jean Caron
Old Saybrook, CT
--------------------------------------------------
I am the grand daughter of Matthias & Eva
Pecht,
who emigrated from Bruckenau to College Point, New York.
The greatest experience in my
life was as a child, living with them during WWII when my Dad was in the
Navy, and being extremely close to them until their death. They frequently
shared stories of their home and after my Grandfather died in 1966, my
Grandmother visited. She is also now deceased - but my Mother & Uncle are
still living and healthy at 86 & 84.
College Point, the town that
they settled in had a large population of folks from Bruckenau and
neighboring towns. We frequently attended events for the "Brotherhood
of German-Hungarians, Branch II" and enjoyed the food, the music & the
Schuplatter (not sure I spelled that correctly).
