Remembering Our Danube Swabian Ancestors

Goulash "over an open fire"
"just the same as our ancestors made"

by Jody McKim Pharr, 14 Aug 2005

Comment:  This was a day to remember, at the summer
house of Werner and Lissi Ingrisch in Ingolstadt, Germany, 2005.  Goulash over an open fire, the same as our ancestors made, everything was fresh. The pit was constructed by Werner, who sports an apron I had sent him for Christmas.
Lissi prepared polenta, looked like cornmeal mush and we
put a scoop in our bowl of Goulash.

Combine everything in the stew pot, simmer for a long time.

1: Put a smile on your face!

2: Brown the meat

3: Add peppers/tomatoes

4: Add water, stir and simmer, simmer

5: Add lard and simmer, simmer, says Lissi

6: Last stir & serve!
