New
Year's Wishes

It
was a custom in most villages. On New Years Day, the
Schwabian children would make an appearance at every
Schwabian house and wish them a Happy New Year.
Each village had their own verse which the children
would recite at every place they went to. People
would give them presents, such as; money, chocolates
or cookies, depending on their performance. This was
done in the morning on New Year's day. Here are some
verses from different villages. When translating,
the English will not rhyme as does the German.
