The School

 

The general compulsory schooling issued by Maria Theresia to Billed with the establishment of village was introduced. Up to the building of the old  school in the year 1798, at first only one teacher for all children, took place in a Kolonistenhaus in the old lane. Around the number of students risen strongly - 1828 visited approximately 600 children the Billeder elementary school. Calculation to built a larger school in 1847.  

Also accordingly the number of the busy teachers and auxiliary teachers had risen. Although the connection of the Banaters in Hungary, in the year 1778, which began Madyarisation of the schools and in 1831 Hungarian was the head office and commercial language in the Banat had been ordered, already became right after in the professional school in Billed until 1870 in German language informed. Only after the transformation of the school into a municipality school starting from 1870 with rising tendency Hungarian. Although the Romanians had promised the German culture and school autonomy when connecting the Banat in Romania, starting from 1920 first partial was informed, later in four subjects in Romanian language. Only the Germans in Romania full school autonomy reached in 1941 with the assumption of the schools by the group of peoples.
