Village Information

       
 

Highway 69 runs from Timisoara to Arad, straight through Orzydorf, known as Main Street (photo seem on our homepage).  From Timisoara the distance is 24.4 (km) / 15.15 (miles). Today there are about 700 houses, with a population of about 4000. There are still several German families remaining in Orzydorf. The neighboring villages are Kalatscha, Mercydorf, Winga and Manester.

Orzydorf, today is situated in Timis, Romania, its geographical coordinates are lat. 45° 57' 49" North, long. 21° 11' 54" East and its original name (with diacritics) is Orţişoara. See below, the aerial photograph of Ortisoara in Romania.

Local News and Development......

1:      Jan 2005 - Austrian environmental services company SW Umwelttechnik AG said it would expand its production Austrian environmental services company SW Umwelttechnik AG said it would expand its production facilities in Romania. The company will invest around 2 million Euro over the next two years in building a sewerage systems factory at Ortisoara in Romania. SW Umwelttechnik already supplies water conservation products to Romania.

The company also said that its subsidiary, OMS Hungaria Kft., has won an order to build a drinking water network in the Zalau area, near Cluj in Romania. The project, totaling 7 million Euro, is financed by the European Union and involves laying about 50km of pipes, rehabilitating drinking water reservoirs and installing pumping stations.

2:      On September 27, Austrian Group SW-Umwelttechnik A.G will officially open, at Ortisoara (10 km from Timisoara) a 2 million new plant, producing concrete prefabs (sewerage cannulars, hydrocarbs separators, trimming rings).

Leader on the Austrian and Hungarian market, 723 employees SW-Umwelttechnik Group operates six factories in Austria, six in Hungary and one plant in the Slovak Republic.
