I'd made all the arrangements by telephone prior to
arriving in Timisoara, for Pavel the Zefir owner to meet us at the airport. We
managed to pack our suitcases and bodies in two autos and off we went. The hotel was
as great as the photos seen at their website, which enticed us to stay there. The
Zefir staff went out of their way to accommodate us, even preparing meals on-request. The Zefir was like a home & large enough to accommodate
all of us. Louise slept on the main floor, Sammy & I were on the
second floor, as was Tom. Diana & Marge shared the "penthouse apartment" which was quite
roomy.
It was modern, clean & the staff were very friendly & some spoke English.
The courtyard & veranda where we'd sit, have coffee
in the mornings & plan our day.
Dinner time on the veranda
was nice; and a
splendid place to write postcards.
from balcony
West side of the hotel is a small balcony on the second
floor.
The view gives a feeling of being in the country & a vegetable garden just outside.
At night I would stand in the window below and gaze out at
all the bright stars that were nestled in the dark blue night. While the city slept, town dogs barked in harmony. After a
while you don't even notice. In the morning the only sounds you hear are birds singing!
My grandmother lived just around the corner from the Zifir,
in Mehala. I wonder if she gazed at these stars wishing upon one to go to America?

Owner, Pavel
Since my last visit, the Zefir looks like it has been
redecorated. Check out the photos:
