will compete at the
State Fair at Syracuse August 26, 1929

Hornell, Aug. 19 - Hornell Band To Play at State Competition. The Hornell High school band will compete Monday (Aug 26, 1929) in the Boys' Band Contest which will be conducted in connection with the State Fair at Syracuse. Leo J. Lynch of Hornell is the director.

The bands against which the Hornell groups will compete include the Albany Newsboys' Band, Elk' Boys Band of Cortland. Elks' Boys Band of Rochester, Exchange Club Boys' Band of Auburn, Gloversville High School Band, Lowville Band, Newfane Band of Lockport, Phelps Community Band. N. Schilzoni's Boys Band of College Point, St. Cyril Band of Binghamton and Waterloo High School Band.

The judges are: E. W. Morphy, head of the music, department of I the University of Wisconsin; John Powell, bandmaster of the 65th Regimental Band of Buffalo and Ernest S. Williams, cornet soloist.
